WWW: Your blog is 100% up-to-date and you’ve made such a
great start in Media – well done! I really like the answers to your opening
questions – the only surprise is that you got a 5 in GCSE Media. I’m surprised
it wasn’t higher and I totally agree we want to be aiming for a B+ grade in A
Level Media. It’s great to see you are using and highlighting media terminology
already and building on what you’ve learned at GCSE. Now we want to add the
depth, detail and theory that can open up those top grades at A Level.
EBI: As discussed, if you want to aim for the top grades
it’s all about adding depth and detail to your blog answers. Some answers will
only need a bullet point but others could do with more detail – particularly if
you’re able to give a variety of possible responses or ideas. This is the key
to getting A grades at A Level – be open to a range of viewpoints and
demonstrate your understanding of this in your responses. The other thing I
would add is to pick up on your media consumption audit. I certainly think
adding a variety of high-quality news sources, podcasts and other media that
you haven’t engaged with previously will help put you on the path to the top
grades in this subject. Keep up the good work!
LR: Create a blogpost on your Media 1 Exam blog called ‘Blog
feedback and learner response’, copy this feedback in and then complete the
following learner response:
Reflect on your work in A Level Media so far. What is your
strongest piece of work? What is your weakest? What specific skills or
knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course?
So far I would say my media work has been great, presentation wise, and I am quite confident I'd be able to revise and look back on my blogs and learn things for future assessments. I'd like to point out that I am not good at exams which is a major factor to why I have received a grade 5 at GCSE level. However I do intend to get better at it for A-levels to get the grade I desire.
My strongest piece of work, in my opinion, for my exam blog is the Media codes as I attempted to mix in the knowledge I learnt from the preferred and oppositional reading lesson while analysing the 50 cent advert by RBK. My weakest piece of work, in my opinion, is the reception theory blog as when I was completing it I wasn't very confident about my knowledge on the topic. However I am confident now.
